The
Bolton Scholarship Fund was established in 1971. It is a non-profit
organization whose purpose is to coordinate the accumulation and
distribution of money for the further education of Bolton High School
graduates and/or Bolton, CT residents.
The Bolton Scholarship Committee is composed
of volunteer members representing various town organizations and
the community at large. The Committee is responsible for maintaining
the Permanent Fund, a General Fund, and Named and Memorial Funds.
In addition to the annual business and town-wide appeals, the committee
also contacts BHS alumni and conducts a Phonathon each year.
Contributions are always
welcome and may be sent to the address listed at the bottom of this page. Information is also available with regard to the establishment
of Named or Memorial Scholarships.
In 2024 we awarded $121,940 to high school graduates and college students. That brings the total amount of scholarships distriuted since our inception to over $2.4 million.
Our organization is unique among
others in the area in that it not only makes awards to graduating high school seniors, but continues to support eligible students who reapply throughout
their college careers.
The distribution of scholarship money is
a responsibility that the committee takes very seriously. We review
and revise our application forms and point system as needed, acting
in the best interests of both recipients and donors. We strive to
help as many applicants as possible.
The basic minimum scholarship
is $300 and multiple awards may also be given. Awards to graduating
BHS recipients are announced at Bolton High School's Senior Celebration, typically in June. All other recipients will receive notification
by mail. Names of all recipients are listed in the graduation program.
Scholarships go directly to students' accounts at their respective
institutions. |
